Youth Making Impact
Our fall newsletter is dedicated to our young people – to the leaders of the future.
We believe shared leadership creates a caring community. Reaching out to the ones that are most impacted or traditionally have not had a strong voice is our goal in changing the way we make decisions.
FCS is an organization that believes in empowerment of all people, and given that the majority of our services are directed to children and youth, sharing the responsibility of service design, advocacy and better outcomes is not only a nice thing to do, it is critical if we wish to create a healthy community where everyone thrives.
In this issue, you will read about extraordinary achievements and the strength of youth in our communities, who are ready to take initiative, share their experiences and advocate for what they need in order to meet their needs.
We have done many things in the past to improve the outcomes for youth, however, we created many of these changes without youth being at the discussion tables to share their important voice. We are changing this by taking a first step to involve youth in a more meaningful way, inviting them to the Board table, and involving them directly in governing what FCSRC does every day.
Looking forward to hearing from you, and engaging in courageous and bold dialogue that will guide future service delivery with better outcomes for children and youth!
