Learning Program Made Possible with $26,000 grant from Employment & Social Development Canada’s COVID-19 Emergency Community Support Fund
Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County (FCSRC) is excited to offer the Experience and Engagement Program (EEP) 2020. EEP 2020 is open to all school-aged kids across Renfrew County and provides them with a fun and safe learning experience with their peers this August and into the fall. The program, funded by a $26,000 grant from Employment & Social Development Canada’s COVID-19 Emergency Community Support Fund and distributed by United Way Ontario East, will allow FCSRC to host the free workshops and activities at its Winning Kids Centre at 464 Isabella St. in Pembroke and other community based locations. It will also allow FCSRC to continue to support families with food & activity bundles.
“It’s critical that children and youth have an opportunity to connect with their peers, and we know how important it is for parents that this is done in a safe way,” says Suzanne Elliott, Director of Service, Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County. “We also hope these organized activities provide some relief to parents who have been juggling many responsibilities with some time in their schedule for themselves or to accomplish the many tasks on their lists.”
The workshops will be facilitated by a number of talented individuals in culturally safe places with COVID-19 prevention measures in place. Most of the workshops will be approximately two hours long with healthy snacks provided.
“Another benefit of this program is financial support for workshop transportation if needed,” says Michael Dalton, Program Supervisor, FCSRC. “We are also really pleased the program can support many of our local businesses, including community elders, who will facilitate the creative and educational workshops and teachings.”
Workshops will begin August 24 and families interested in registering their children for a workshop can visit the Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County Facebook page for more information. You can also contact Family and Children’s Services at 613-735-6866.
