Overview of Volunteer Driving Program for Family & Children’s Services (Volunteer drivers not required at this time)
Family & Children’s Services of Renfrew County offers Infant Development Programs, Child Protection, Developmental Services Programs for both children and adults, behaviour and speech programs, KUMON, Family Visitation and Exchange Services, and Ontario Early Years.
Our Volunteers transport clients to and from visits and appointments. Volunteer drivers provide transportation for children to visit with their families, to attend medical and educational appointments, and to attend events that they may not have been able to otherwise. We look for volunteers who are reliable, punctual, enjoy spending time with children and possess a good driving record.
All volunteers complete an application and personal information form. We also require a criminal reference check, a child protection record check and three references. For volunteer driving, we require a recent driver’s abstract, a copy of insurance ensuring $1,000,000 coverage, a valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle. The application process includes a personal interview.
